The lasagna analogy is funny because it describes the current AI moment 10/10. Everyone is being told they can cook. Fewer people are talking about the supply chain, the kitchen, the ingredients, the food safety, the spices, and who cleans up afterward.

PS, I regret leaving NYC almost every single day. It's been 8 years now. You would think I would get over it. LOL

Happy Monday, Anna.

This is so true! The lasagna thing was exactly why I went, I couldn’t help. I found myself questioning what it would cost to run something like this? I’ve been asked to organize a hackathon, so I’m practicing the energy, but I don’t think I can keep it this laid‑back.

Ohh no, regretting leaving New York? You are in CA, the best place to be, I’m not ready to hear it 🫣.

Thank you, as always, for being here for me, Neela!

I love the weather, but that’s about it.

Are you kidding?

I love reading your thoughts, Anna.

Just wish I had started sooner :)

Anna, this post has so many beautiful, profound moments in it. I love that you still helped the grad and made a connection, but you were able to leave it at a single moment of introduction. The way you reflect on these events and the learnings you take from them are so very cool.

My very first corporate job had an elevator that sat underneath a rooftop swimming pool and because of the way it had to be made safe, it was incredibly slow. The awkward elevator chat and waiting was sooo drawn out and people literally tumbled out and ran from it when it finally opened on a floor. Your mention of one at the end brought back so many memories!

Dallas, I spent HOURS spiraling about the whole thing with the grad. He messaged me on LinkedIn about referrals and I shared a few, but shifting out of that overfunctioning mode I’d been in for years was really hard for me.

Thank you for seeing all the little moments, I so love how you read my work. Your reflections are so accurate and I’m sorry I brought up those elevator memories 😬 but it felt so obv there that I couldn’t not include it.

Ohhh Anna! That must have been so hard to work through but I'm so proud of you for doing it and deciding what honours the journey and where you are now.

I thought the elevator was so cool, even though it was slow and awkward. I loved my first dip into the corporate world in Brisbane, Australia - it was all so new and different. More than once I leapt into an empty elevator, forgot to push the floor button I needed and it would all go dark on me 🤣🤣🤦🏻‍♀️

I really hope that house in nature by water is not far away - it sounds just perfect.

Ha! Would love to see your face when the elevator goes dark! I love Brisbane, the only place I've been to Australia is the Gold Coast!

Dreams do come true, so I am hoping one day I can invite you to my house by the water. 🩵

Slight terror and then the relief of finding buttons in the dark and stabbing at one successfully 😂

The Gold Coast is a great choice for Australia!

Big yes please!! I want to come and sit by your fire and share stories 🤍

I kept coming back to the difference between knowing, deciding, and choosing.

Everyone at that table had one of those. Very few had all three.

Hi Om, that is such a great observation! None of the people had all, as far as I could tell, but ideally, we want to be in this position. Thanks so much for reading and taking time to reflect!
